This week we went to Pizza Hut, I got a Qur'an, and our friend Jessica got baptized.
On P Day last week we went to a place near the Stake Center that has basketball courts. It's a police depot so there's a bunch of armored cars and cargo crates. After we played we went to Pizza Hut with a bunch of missionaries. Pizza Hut is scarily close to our apartment and scarily tasty.
One day in the middle of the Week, we came home and were talking with a guy in our compound. The area we live in has a lot of Muslims including our friend Mohammed. We were talking about religion and I said I would love to read through some of an English Qur'an. He said he had one and would lend it to me. We decided to trade him a Book of Mormon for the Qur'an. I have been reading it a little and their beliefs are very close to our own. I hope Mohammed will read his Book of Mormon too.
Our friend Jessica got baptized this Friday. Just one week ago we thought that she was moving to a different part of Accra. Last Sunday she told us that she wanted to go on a temple trip at the end of the month and that she wasn't going to move anymore. She had already been taught everything so we just reviewed some things and she was baptized. Almost her whole house are members, so she will be in a really good environment.
Some weird stuff that happened this week. So we went to the house of one of our new investigators and she wasn't there so we waited a while. On the other side of the compound we realized that there was a lady shouting at someone. Looked over and found out very quickly that she wasn't wearing any clothes. She was chained up by her ankle to some cart thing so she couldn't move around. She was getting pretty rowdy, so one guy started pulling on the cart and dragging her on the ground a little bit. When our investigator got there, we asked what was happening and she just said, "Alcohol". I learned a lot in just a few minutes there.
Scripture of the Week
Helaman 12:3 - "And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him."
