City Boy πŸŒ†πŸ§”πŸΌ

This was a really crazy week, and I don't know where to start so I'll just jump into it.

SethπŸ‘Œ
One of the best things this week was the Baptism for our friend Seth. He was taught by missionaries last year and then lost contact with them. He showed up to church one day and said he's ready to continue the lessons. He is a barber and a super cool guy. He was super ready for baptism and I'm excited to see what his new life has in store.

Exchanges πŸ€¨
So on Sunday I got a text from one of the AP's asking if we could go on exchange next week. On Tuesday they called again and asked if we could do the exchange on Wednesday... the next day. I said yes and we met up at district council. I went with Elder Englebright and it was a great day. He goes home in a month and he's a super funny guy.

Emergency Transfers πŸ₯΄
On Saturday we were eating dinner having a jolly good time. The phone rang and it was Elder Englebright again. He just dropped the bomb and said there was an emergency transfer. They are sending me to Alajo in the Tesano zone. They called me to be a Zone Leader there with Elder Zile. It was a little unexpected, especially because we are only halfway through this transfer. Tesano is the most city zone in the whole mission. I've been out in the bush my entire mission so far so it'll be a big switch up. I am gonna miss trees though.

Saying Goodbyes πŸ‘‹ πŸ₯²
Saying goodbye to everyone in Breku has been rough. I have loved my time in this area. I am extremely excited for my new area but Breku will always have a special place in my heart. I never got to finish Elder Ivins' training either so I hope he turns out alright. Haha

Scripture of the Week
Mosiah 26:18 - "Yea, blessed is this people who are willing to bear my name; for in my name shall they be called; and they are mine."

Pig Truck πŸ›» πŸ–

7/18/22

Another week down and this one was a lot more eventful. I hit my real one year mark on the 12th so I'm officially more than half way. A lot of my stuff is super worn down. I switched into a new pair of shoes, have to buy a new fanny pack, and I burned a shirt. Time is flying right now, each transfer goes by faster. I'm excited to see what this next year has in store for me.

This week we put another one of our friends on date. Her name is Doren and she's been taught by missionaries for almost a year. One week she showed up to church and while she was leaving she said, "By the way I want to be baptized now." It was surprising, but awesome! Elder Ivins has that greenie luck. We are supposed to baptize our friend Seth this week too. He's a really cool guy and he's a barber. He doesn't have a shop right now so he just walks around with his clippers and razors until someone calls him over. I'm really excited for both of them.

This last Saturday we had a Stake Cultural Activity. Each ward/branch/group prepared a cultural dance from a different region in Ghana and performed it. There were a lot of cool performances and our branch placed 3rd. They also did an African proverbs competition but it was all in Twi so I couldn't really follow what was going on. It was a great day and we got to hang out with the other missionaries in our zone.

Scripture of the Week
2 Nephi 11:7 - "For if there be no Christ there be no God; and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no creation. But there is a God, and he is Christ, and he cometh in the fulness of his own time."

HalfwayπŸ—Ώ

7/11/22

So I hit my 1 year mark today. Halfway babyyyyy! It's honestly kind of bittersweet. I can definitely say that I have learned so much in the last year. It's crazy! I'm super excited to see where the next year takes me.

This week transfers hit and we got a new elder in our apartment. His name is Elder Forsey and he's from St George. It was a great switch up playing cards with 3 people instead of 2. He brought a football so we've been tossing the pigskin around too. This transfer is gonna be a lot of fun.

We also got to meet our new mission president this week. President and Sister Jacobsen are super cool people. We did short interviews and I'm really excited to see what they do with the mission. Also their son is on a mission in Argentina, Buenos Aires West. Shout out to Elder Jonah "SimperingName" Rogers, who is in that same mission. You know just shout out to Gamba, love you guys β€οΈ.

Out in Ojobi this week we had an interaction with a mute guy. We have met him before but this time he was very excited to see us. Neither Elder Ivins or I know American Sign Language and he figured that out pretty fast. He started trying to motion out what he wanted to say. We were just standing there playing Pictionary with him in the middle of the street. We couldn't figure out what he was saying so I just said we would come back next week.

Scripture of the Week
Mosiah 7:33 - "But if ye will turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, and put your trust in him, and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this, he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage."

That's my whole week summed up in a little letter. I'll try to get more stories in here to spice it up. I love you all and hope you have a good week!

Goodbye President Sanders πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ

Yeah a lot happened this week. We had a zone activity, went to the temple, got a new mission president, and got transfer news.

Zone Activity πŸ‘•
Last P day we had an activity with the whole Zone. We all got together and played Soccer, Foursquare, and Basketball. We also got zone shirts so the whole Winneba Zone is looking fresh. We did the whole activity at Ghana Make A Difference, which is an orphanage run by the church. It was a little chaotic with the kids running around but it made it more fun.

TempleπŸ”πŸ—
On Tuesday we went to the House of the Lord. We went with a bunch of people in our zone. I always love temple trips. Ghana is a super loud place so the temple is the perfect place to have peace and quiet. Afterwards we went to KFC and man do I miss fast food. Near Accra they were having some sort of political demonstration so people were talking on loudspeakers. Everyone was wearing black and red, someone set a tire on fire.

Mission President πŸ˜Ž
This week, President and Sister Sanders finished their service. I'm grateful for everything I learned from President Sanders, he's a great guy. We did a mission wide zoom call with our new President. His name is President Jacobsen and I'm excited to meet him in person.

Transfer Calls β˜ŽοΈ
Elder Ivins and I are both staying in Awutu Breku, but there is another Elder coming to our apartment. Elder Mansaray is leaving and we are receiving Elder Forsey. This transfer is gonna be a party.

Scripture of the Week
Enos 1:15 - "-Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it"

Great week, great month, great transfer, I look forward to the transfer ahead of me. It hurts to miss the 4th of July. Anyone in America reading this right now, don't take it for granted because I definitely did before I came here. See you all next week.
